Samiksha Tamang

Positive Behaviour Specialist
Samiksha Tamang

Professional Profile

I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science and Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Professions (ACAP), where I studied biological psychology, individual differences (intelligence and personality), cognitive psychology and learning and developmental psychology. I have experience across positive behaviour support, disability, counselling, and social and emotional wellbeing settings. My professional experience includes working with children, adolescents, and adults with diverse needs, including people with disability, neurodivergence, and complex psychosocial needs.

In my current role as a positive behavior specialist, I support participants to develop skills that promote emotional regulation, communication, independence, and positive relationships. My approach is person-centred, strengths-based, trauma-informed, and focused on understanding the individual rather than simply responding to behaviour. I take time to build genuine relationships through trust, consistency, active listening, and engaging participants in ways that reflect their interests, communication style, and preferences.

I am motivated by seeing participants feel understood, supported, and empowered to achieve meaningful changes in their everyday lives. I am particularly interested in psychology, behavioural support, emotional regulation, and supporting children and young people. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, creative activities, and learning new skills that contribute to my professional development.
